Beinn Fhada, A Ghlas Bheinn and Falls of Glomach

Skill level
Challenging - For experienced walkers only
Grade 2

The Harvey British Mountain Map for Knoydart, Kintail and Glen Affric shows a hillwalkers paradise with 43 Munros, 21 Corbetts and the 113m high Falls of Glomach on one sheet. Truly an area for the Munro Bagger if ever there was one. Add to this the stunning scenery on the drive into the area on the Road to the Isles and you have a recipe for a spectacular weekend in a magical area. With so much to choose from, it's always going to be challenging to pick a route.

This is a long day at 30km but it takes in two lovely Munros, both hidden gems in Kintail, secluded behind the more famous Brothers and Sisters ridges and overshadowed by the fantastic South Glen Shiel ridge perhaps. However, the jewel here for me is the trip out to the Falls of Glomach off the back of A Ghlas Bheinn.

We will meet initially in the carpark at Kintail Crafts for a briefing. From here we will transfer into as few cars as possible to make the 5 minute drive to the start of the walk which has limited parking.

Citylink run a direct bus service from both Edinburgh and Glasgow to Portree, both of which pass by the front doors of the Cluanie Inn and Kintail Lodge Hotel. If you speak to the driver, they will drop you off and pick you up at both locations. They're very used to walkers using both as a base for Kintail.

Should you prefer, accommodation before or after, it can be found in the nearby Cluanie Inn or at the Kintail Lodge Hotel, Invershiel which also has a Hostel. There is a campsite at nearby Shiel Bridge or the Ratagan Youth Hostel where you can get a 10% discount on your stay if you use my code, King-19

Why not make a weekend of it and join us on Sunday for three more at Cluanie
