The Six Monar Munros

Skill level
Challenging - For experienced walkers only
Grade 2

The Loch Monar Munros are mostly hidden away in the area south of Achnashellach, east of Attadale and mainly congregate in a horseshoe at the west end of Loch Monar. Difficult to get at this cluster of hills, both Munros and Corbetts usually take multiple trips to access them. On this trip, we will tackle them all anti-clockwise starting and finishing at Craig, Achnashellach, near to the famous Gerry's Hostel.

Day 1 will be out to Lurg Mhor and Sheasgaich via Beinn Tharsuinn (Corbett) before we drop down to the lochside to camp for the evening.

Day 2 a steep ascent from camp onto Sgurr Choinnich, Sgurr a' Chaorachain then out to Maoile Lunndaidh. After these three fine three summits we will push on to Glenuaig Lodge with the aim of setting camp at the climbers bothy.

Day 3 finish with Moruisg and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean (Corbett) then back to the start point.

Very remote, very long, very steep with lots of ascent would be a quick but accurate statement for this trip, it will be a stiff test of your fitness, stamina and resolve. We will be out for three days, carrying all our equipment to be self-sufficient and wild camping on the way. As we're early in the season the dreaded midge shouldn't quite be with us yet but the days a little shorter and cooler so pack be sure to pack your warm clothes.

A hugely rewarding trip, well worth the effort. If in any doubt as to your fitness or if you need a loan of some kit, tent, sleeping bag, stove, as ever, get in touch before booking for a chat.
